“Over the past few years, the Research and Development team at New England Wire Technologies has worked to expand our Outreach partnerships to assist with continuous improvement (CI) projects. By partnering with regional institutions, NEWT has access to researchers and their instrumentation for generating information to help with wire and cable design, and the data required for assessing and implementing operational changes for driving production improvements.
For example, our partnerships have assisted in the development of precision deposition equipment for the continuous application of micro-thick coatings for modifying the surface properties of our customers’ cable products. NEWT has partnered with academic institutions for assessing how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can play a role in our operations as well as design of cable solutions. These advanced software and hardware tools should catalyze our CI drive to maximize the effectiveness of operations to meet the most challenging cable design requirements.
